Program: Welcome

program dates & schedule

August 10-21, 2020

Morning Stretch

10:30 - 11 AM (EST)

9:30 - 10 AM (CST)

8:30 - 9 AM (MST)

7:30 - 8 AM (PST)

Bring your coffee and breakfast to this daily check-in. We'll meet (virtually) every morning for a half-hour of hellos, introductions, ice breakers, questions from the Question Box, and a mental stretch to get our creative juices flowing.

Morning Run

11 AM - 12 PM (EST)

10 AM - 11 AM (CST)

9 AM - 10 AM (MST)

8 AM - 9 AM (PST)

After we stretch, we run (our pens on paper). We'll break into our daily (virtual) workshops led by the same leader and with the same peers every day at this time.

Afternoon Workshop

3 - 4 PM (EST)

2 - 3 PM (CST)

1 - 2 PM (MST)

12 - 1 PM (PST)

We'll end each day with a specialty workshop, guest speaker, or some otherwise magical hour of creation and creativity. During the first week of the program, published authors give readings and answer questions about their work and the writing life; in the second week, evening readings feature participants sharing some of the work they have produced during the program.

Cadabra is about tapping into the divine creative energy that lies within our core. Jewish tradition says that on Shabbat (Saturday), God ceased all creative activity. So, too, our workshops will not meet on Shabbat. We won't meet on Sunday either, for that matter, because weekends are important.

American times are listed, but any high schooler in the world with proficiency in the English language is eligible.
